Townsville Custom Cycles has been a family run business for the past 20 years.
Leeroy & Angela have been running Townsville Motorcycle Tours as a hobby business out of the Townsville City Mall for some three years; Angela rides a 06 Pearl Yellow Fatboy and Leeroy a Limited Edition 15 Anniversary silver Fatboy. Working full time at their respective trades; Angela - a Registered Nurse - as the CN at the Mater Hospital, Cardiac Thoracic Surgery Division (Hearts) in Townsville; and Leeroy, a number of management positions in Townsville and Interstate since leaving the Army in 2000.
Leeroy has a long history with Motorcycling. From his early days tearing around the Victorian bush on dirt bikes, to later getting involved with Drag Racing here in the North and spending lots of time and money in the sport. He then entered the Harley scene in the early 90’s, after a life long passion to own a Harley-Davidson from when he was a boy.
He was involved with the Jack Daniels Nitro Harley Racing team, owned by his mate Brett Stevens. Then, as if to spur him on, Harley-Davidson debut the ”FAT BOY“ in 1990, to which Leeroy knew he had to own one. (This was also his nickname during his Defence career.
(Was that due to your then portly shape ”Fat Boy“?)
His trade as a Motor Mechanic and passion for motorcycles has set him in good stead to progress the future of Townsville Custom Cycles.
Leeroy resigned from the Army in 2000, after 17 years of service and took on a management position in Adelaide as Fleet Manager for a bus company. After 12 months in Adelaide, he was head-hunted to be involved in a number of Townsville businesses.
During a two-month trip to the ”States“ in 2005, Leeroy and Angela visited 37 Harley-Davidson Dealerships and the HD plants in Milwaukee and York Pennsylvania. On 11th June 2005, he spent his 40th Birthday at the factory in York watching his New Limited Edition Fat Boy come off the assembly line.
He returned to Australia ready to take on the next phase of his life and motorcycling adventure ….. the challenge of running his own business.
First the Tours, then the natural progression to a full time position in a specialized Harley repair shop
Townsville Custom Cycles was about to be reborn!
